- Senior Researcher at Sharp Laboratories of America from 09/2012 to 10/2015
- Made various contributions towards research and development of next-generation Sharp products
- Co-managed teams of various sizes and successfully performed technology transfer of our video enhancement algorithm resulting in its deployment in the up-coming Sharp 4K display
- Initiated the investigation and development of novel image and video super-resolution algorithms for Ultra HD (4K and 8K resolution) displays
- Graduate Research Assistant at Computer Vision Group, Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems, Computer Science Dept., University of Southern California from 01/2008 to 08/2012
- Built a novel framework to perform robust contrast enhancement of videos while ensuring temporal consistency
- Developed a novel technique based on human perception to enhance the contrast of images and conducted psychophysical experiments to demonstrate its effectiveness to both normally sighted and visually impaired people
- Developed 2 new approaches – one based on smoothing and the other based on local standard deviation of color channels to achieve color constancy and obtained results better than previous methods on publicly available datasets
- Developed an automatic technique for robust sharpness and detail enhancement of images
- Worked on sharpness and contrast enhancement of retinal fundus images
- Summer Research Intern at Sharp Laboratories of America from 05/2011 to 08/2011
- Developed algorithms based on sparse representation to enhance texture of images and videos for a 4K display
- BigStage Entertainment Inc. from 06/2007 to 12/2007
- Improved the facial feature extraction system that I had previously developed at USC
- Research Assistant at Computer Vision Group, Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems, Computer Science Dept., University of Southern California from 06/2006 to 05/2007
- Worked on human face detection in images taken from spherical camera
- Developed a technique to extract feature points along the contour of eyes, eyebrows, nose, mouth and jaw-line and estimate the pose of face
- Research Assistant at Computer Science Dept., University of Rochester from 09/2004 to 08/2005
- Developed a technique for segmentation and background elimination of images with a multi-flash camera using features like color and depth-edges
- Designed a classification technique for outdoor scene classification based on support vector machine using expressive features for categorizing outdoor images into 6 different classes
